THE
VICAR

Fr. Ian Tucker –
Priest in Charge
As the newest member of the parish team, being recently
licensed here only in the spring of 2004, I am actually delighted to be part of
a very active, enthusiastic and dedicated church community. The icing on the cake is the two quite
beautiful churches we have in Par, and of course, the lovely coastal location
we are privileged to live within here in Cornwall.
Par is my fourth
appointment since I was ordained in 1989.
All of my appointments have been in the West Country, and Par is the
second within the County
of Cornwall (Diocese of
Truro).
In addition to the post of Priest in Charge, I am also
Honorary Chaplain to the ‘Mission to
Seafarers’ based within the Port
of Par. The Mission
to Seafarers is a world mission agency, which provides care for the practical
and spiritual welfare of seafarers of all nationalities and faiths. As a commercial cargo port, Par handles
vessels from all over the world, discharging and loading their cargo. The main export commodity from Par is china
clay product for the paper making industry, the majority of which is extracted
locally, and processed by Messrs. Imerys, a major employer within this part of Cornwall.
